LRO Diviner Team Inspires Next Generation of Scientists at 3rd Annual JPL Camp Day

The LRO Diviner Team participated in Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s (JPL) 3rd annual JPL Camp Day at Dodger Stadium on June 17, 2026. The educational outreach event took place before the Los Angeles Dodgers' game against the Tampa Bay Rays, reaching thousands of stadium ticket holders.

The LRO Diviner team engaged baseball fans of all ages through interactive, hands-on demonstrations designed to bring lunar science to the public. Key exhibits included a live thermal infrared camera demonstrating temperature variations, alongside specialized Earth and Lunar scales that illustrated differences in one's weight between the two celestial bodies.

Another highlight of the Diviner exhibit was the "Lunar Leap" challenge. This interactive banner allowed participants to test their vertical leap and visualize how high they could jump under the Moon’s reduced gravity.

To foster continued interest in planetary exploration, the team distributed custom LRO Diviner materials, including child-friendly temporary tattoos and colorful engraved pens and pencils . The high level of public enthusiasm underscores the team's ongoing commitment to STEM outreach and community engagement.
